persona 4 revival yosuke romance rant

for starters, super bummed they didnt add the romance. was it expected? definitely... i wish atlus was more accepting of adding queer representation to their games. only 2 things we sort of have are jun kurosu's romance in p2is (which isnt taken seriously in the game at all, and is also filled with all of the demons being homophobic and just seeing tatsuya and jun having a brotherly bond rather than romantic...) and aigis' romance in p3p (which i am guessing they only let slide because aigis is technically a robot and not a woman even if she presents feminine?) but other than that, nothing!! maybe a few queer jokes here and there and a bunch of queerbaiting, but nothing else. and honestly i dont get it since theyre removing yosuke's subtle homophobic remarks to fit with modern times even though the game is set in around 2011(?) but then they wont even make a gay romance option, especially in a game themed about accepting your true self... im a bit confused, but whatever. and the excuse was so lame, "itll be too much work, then we have to make all of the guys gay" you are making p4r on your own will as a multibillionaire dollar company, you can do it!!!!1! plus, no one was ASKING for all of the guys (which would still be EPIC), in past games they've made only a select few of opposite gendered/same gendered confidants romanceable, why not just do it again? and i mean im not going to throw a fit even though i AM writing a whole blog about this... but i honestly just have no one to talk to this about, i have no friends that are into persona. i doubt anyone is even going to read all of this anyway, but its fine. and honestly, i didnt realize just actually how big the majority of atlus' fans are homophobic. ive never seen any of them until the romance was announced to be a discarded idea. but these past 2 days, its like theyre all just coming out of their shells and spreading their diseases everywhere!!! i had someone tell me im not allowed to play a game targeted for teenage boys because i like the idea of there being a gay romance. SHOW ME WHERE IT HURT YOU!!! THEY ACT LIKE YOU HAVE TO ROMANCE IN PERSONA!!11! it just feels like we can never win... and then everyone also blames it on the fact that its a japanese company, so? you can be japanese and NOT be homophobic. and from the stuff ive seen, the remake is literally the exact same except for updated models and ui and battle system, theres nothing else added to the remake. i was hoping the yosuke romance would be the one new thing theyd add, but clearly it was not. ill probably buy it, but maybe when it goes on sale. especially since i have p4g that i bought on sale for 10 dollars... my wifi went out just as i was about to hit post. AWESOME!!!! another note to add, romancing someone literally changes nothing in the story. you get a special cutscene, some dialogue, and some holiday events. WHICH DONT CHANGE THE STORY AT ALL AND ARE VERY SMALL PARTS OF THE GAME. but wtv, i still love yosuke and love souyo and dont mind it if he's romanceable or not. people will probably just mod the game anyway to add it xD
