I love plague soldier beetles very much so I am subjecting you all to my blog about my favourite bug ever! They are so green and such calm little guys and are my gateway bug into being more comfortable around insects and such! They are one of the very few bugs and critters I can calmly let crawl on me (until they start to go up my sleeve because then I worry about squishing them). My babies <3 They could never do wrong!
Fun facts:
- They are native to australia, preferring woodlands and plant dense areas!
- They are omnivores — these chill guys apparently do prey on other insects!
- They release poisonous chemicals as a deterrent to predators which is a new fact to me!
- The "plague" part of their name came from how soldier beetles gather in large amounts on plants to mate! these large amounts can weight down on small, thin limbs on plants
