Please help!! (Parents won't let me mod 3DS)

Okay so I impulsively ordered a 3DS today. It was really cheap and the color was adorable and I couldn't help myself. But after I spent my money I remembered something unfortunate. My mother, whom I love very much, HATES piracy and anything adjacent to it. As a result, she told me that I could get a 3DS, but would have to buy every game myself as a physical copy on Ebay or at resell stores. I tried to explain to her how ridiculous that was, but she did not want to argue. For context, I make money but not *much* money, I'm a teenager working minimum wage. I once got in HUGE trouble with my parents for emulating old pokemon games on my computer and ever since then they've been super strict about modding and such. If I tried to explain to her that I would rather not spend 200 dollars on a scalped pokemon game, she would immediately start ranting about how piracy is a federal crime and I need to have better morals. (Also not too relevant but this is SUPER hypocritical of her because she once pirated all the Sims 4 game passes.) Personally, I think that since I bought the 3DS with MY hard earned money, I should be allowed to use it however I please. Does anyone know how I could convince her that maybe modding a 3DS in 2026 isn't so unheard of?
