Pleasently Surprisingly Good Show

HI I must share with the world the wonderful show I've been watching the last few weeks instead of studying.

Search Party randomly came up on my Netflix one day, and I decided to watch it. My first impression was meh; the description sounded kinda lame, but I think I just wanted some background noise.

It is listed as a comedy with 5- yes, you read that right- 5 perfect seasons (well, I have not watched season five yet, but I am so confident it will be 10/10 as well)

Its first season is from 2016, and it's set around recent millennial college grads who are navigating their new careers in New York while the main character tries to find a missing person. It starts off as a mystery with some like dry, satirical humor, but each season is a little different. The storyline is one that get's out of hand, but its positioned in a way that makes a lot of sense, so it never feels rushed. It is outlandish but in the best way possible. Some episodes and storylines are kinda scary and serious, but others are hilarious. And it balances out heavy and light topics.

(IDK why my pictures won't center, lo siento)

The characters are developed SO well. I just can't describe how much I love how this show was written.

I think the episodes are 30 minutes s, so I typically watch 2-4 episodes at a time. This show is so binge-able. SO if you need any recommendations, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND Search Party :)

I love TV; watching films and shows is my #1 pastime. I prefer things that are either A. Technically good. Well written, critically acclaimed, and complex, ya know, like Breaking Bad, or B. Really good but severely underrated, like Chewing Gum or idk maybe Master of None.

I used to love the high school drama Netflix series like On My Block,  when I was in high school, but after the Euphoria hype and, well, graduating high school, I just have 0 interest in watching anything depicting high schoolers. CALL ME TOO WOKE ik its actually debilitating, but I hate the American obsession with being in high school. PLUS, TV is so sexual; it all just seems like a fetish. SO I personally love finding shows not centered around kids. All that to say, that's another reason to like this show bc it's relatable young adult media that is rare.

ALSO, this show is so fun and lighthearted. I remember watching Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad in high school, and then I wondered why I was depressed every day. Same thing with films. I have a strict "won't watch" bc some things are better left alone :bite:

Kudos: 2
