FriendRewind Messenger is a new application that aims to bring back the MySpace IM experience as closely as possible, while giving it a new home and its own identity under the FriendRewind name.
When I first heard about the idea behind this, I thought it was a pretty neat concept. There was something special about the old days of MySpace, and for a lot of us, the instant messenger was a part of that experience. Being able to bring some of that back, while putting a FriendRewind spin on it, is an interesting way to revisit a little piece of internet history.
I knowΒ Def3ctΒ has already made a bulletin post about this, but I wanted to help spread the word a bit further for anyone who might have missed it. Projects like these deserve a little attention, and sometimes it doesn't hurt to have another person share the news.
One thing I do want to point out, though, is that FriendRewind Messenger is still in beta.
It's still a work in progress, so there may be bugs, unfinished features, or things that don't work quite the way you'd expect just yet. That's completely normal for software at this stage, and things will hopefully continue to improve as development moves forward. Just keep that in mind if you decide to give it a try.
I'm not going to pretend I know exactly where the project will go from here, but I do think the idea behind it is worth getting excited about. Bringing back the feel of MySpace IM and making it something that belongs to FriendRewind is a pretty cool concept, especially for those of us who remember using it back in the day.
Here is some more information about it from the genius, himself!
I mainly wanted to share this so more people in the community could hear about it. Whether you're here for the nostalgia, curious about the application, or simply interested in seeing what FriendRewind is working on, it's something worth keeping an eye on.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops, and hopefully, we'll get to see it grow into something the community can enjoy.
Just remember that it's still in beta, so be patient, keep an eye out for updates, and don't expect everything to be perfect just yet. But here's a direct link toΒ downloadΒ it and try it out for yourself!
