pt. 3 of thoughts while reading Homestuck (Act 5 act 2)

Act 5 Act 2 but maybe it’ll bleed into the whole everything I’ve read in the past week.

Also I’m like, half sobbing rn none of my thoughts are being rational. (Just finished watching [S] Cascade)

The love I feel for this series as I am reading it is so great I want to make a whole summary of it. I know it’s been done, I know it’s not necessary, I know that at worst, no one will read it, but this story has to be told in such a convoluted way (which I say with love, because I love convoluted), that to retell it in a linear way would give me the same satisfaction as separating a knot of 4 different necklaces. Not a feat I am able to do, either in necklaces or in summaries, for my summaries are double the convolution that the original story usually is. 

Back on the matter at hand.

While I was worried I would have a hard time understanding what the ancestors were and what they meant, I am glad to say that thanks to Vriska (I know, shocking) and I guess the white globe head man, I fully understand their importances. I am curious if it applies to ocs or if ancestors were a one off for these 12 in this specific case.  Also curious if like, a karkat having the symbol of Troll Jesus means that everyone knows he is to become Troll Jesus? Or like, did the ancestors lore is extremely secret and not all symbols really mean anything to everyone? I feel like it’s mentioned not everyone will follow the path of their ancestors but like, does the symbol give a bit of an understanding as to who they ‘have’ to become? Thinking thinking.

Also would that make Gamzee troll Judas?

Anyway.

I, having a fear of killer clown, was pleasantly surprised to not be terrified of Gamzee. And also, happy not to have been jumpscared by cheap killer clown jumpscares. Though, honestly, I am a bit confused as to what happened. Like, the whole part where Gamzee kills Equius and Nepeta did happen? And then? There was the x5 showdown on the roof following Vriska’s death? And then he got calmed down? (Amazing thing btw) But then? When did the whole thing with the puppet happen? Was that the universe where he managed to get everyone? But then? How did he appear in some frames when Terezi was getting prepared to face Vriska? 

My question is, was the part where Gamzee talked to Dave with the puppet and also dead Tavros in the background an alternate timeline where he killed everyone, or did that happen before the x5 showdown?

Also sprite Jade and sprite Dave’s conversation really made me sad like. That’s kind awful an existence. To know that, you’re not the ‘real’ you. You’re just. There to help the real you become who you could’ve become had the circumstances been better. Like that’s an existential crisis to be had, of which I will spare your eh question because I know it could make me spiral lmao.

Also are relationship predestined because of the ancestors or is it just a coincidence that Nepeta has a crush on Karkat. And the whole Terezi and Vriska thing. Also an existential crisis to be had about free will and I’d make a really cool fanfic about an aroace character breaking away from predestined romance.

Another thing, I really like seeing the artstyle evolve? I don’t know sincerely if anyone else had a hand in the drawings, but, the way the shading was done, it’s especially visible in Cascade, I love it??? After all this is 2 years after the beginning. Of course evolution would happen.

I think that’s all my thoughts, for now, I may add more later as I go through my live text reaction.

I made 2 troll ocs meanwhile and hehehe Im about to make a third. The good news is that personality test gave both a time and a space player so the session has a chance to survive. The bad news is that we’re both pages so it will take some work. Also can two players be the same class? I mean, if there’s more than 14 players, certainly there will be a repeat at some point…

Last but not least, expectations of act 6: NEPETA AND EQUIUS AND TAVROS ALIVE PLEASE???? If they’re not I will cry again
