Ahaha haha cuz cats dont go to heaven haha- Anyway, I played a point and click visual novel puzzle kinda game today and felt like talking about it because it was super cool and underrated! I'll have a spoiler free paragraph for those that wanna play it, and a spoiler paragraph for people like me that spoil everything for themselves (or if anyone out there reading this has played the game.) Also completely irrelevant but I forgot to give my previous entry a layout and now I'm unreasonably upset about it -_-
Ahem anyway,
Purrgatory is a game where you go to, you guessed it, purgatory. Except in this game's version of purgatory everything is cat themed or somewhat made for cats, and there are only 7 other people there. The writing feels real and charming, and I found myself really attached to these characters that I only got to know in the hour or two that I'd been playing the game.
You click around to explore and meet the other characters.
Kyungsoon, a girl that sits and eats stuff,
Oliver, a nerdy librarian,
Numa, a social trainwreck gardener,
Elijah, a wise poet,
Sean, a flirty musician,
Tori, a girl trying to escape,
and Natalie, a lazy but kind artist
also there's a lot of queer rep and it's super well written!! I rate it 8/10 because it was super cool but a bit confusing to navigate at times. Also i played it on itch.io if anyone's wondering.
Okay now I'm gonna get into spoilers so if you wanna play the game go do that now!

So in order to get the true ending (which is what I got) you befriend all the characters to "save" them and then call lucifur (hahahaha get it because he's a cat?) Lucifur interviews people because purrgatory is over capacity and he needs someone to leave, and after a long argument he ends up allowing everyone to go to heaven (note that this is only in the good ending, which I achieved) The ending was pretty heartwarming and I felt accomplished in completing everything, but it made me start to wonder about the afterlife. Funny how a badly drawn point and click game can do that. After we die how are we just supposed to accept eternity? Even if I was in literal heaven I feel like I would get bored. I don't wanna be reincarnated either of course, but sometimes I feel like the afterlife as a concept just doesn't seem that great. Maybe it's just me. Oh gosh I'm getting deep and this is supposed to be a review. COUGH anyway the heaven sequence is really beautifully drawn compared to the rest of the game, which is mostly black and white. I kinda wish we could get a sequel or some more updates of the characters in heaven, but I feel that way about every game I play.
If you managed to read my pathetic excuse of a "review", thanks. I hope you have a lovely day and lemme know if you want me to recommend and/or talk about more indie games, I play a lot of them haha :P
