Pursuing an art career (and what worries me about it)

hey soooo my whole life I've been into art. Honestly I'm not that experienced but I've been working on my skills for the past few years and I can see myself improving by the time I finish high school. I've spoken to my parents about wanting to go to art school after I graduate (i'm a junior rn) and they're fine with it but I'm also worried 

I've heard a lot of people say you don't make much money out of it after, or that art careers go nowhere. Except it's something I've always wanted to pursue  I was hoping maybe I could get into making comics or working on storyboards, except I have no idea where that would get me anyways

Does anybody who works in art or wants to go to art school have any tips? Well idk if this will get any views
