modern social media, in my opinion, is too limiting and is bulged with ads and tracking. we can't express who we are with custom profiles, since youtube took away the customizable profile option. but, if we hadn't had stuff like youtube, some of us wouldn't have some of our fandoms.
but if we look at the social media/internet revival side, it's community based, and it revives the best period of the internet! if you're wondering what are social media revivals, think vidlii (youtube revival), friendrewind (site you are on rn, myspace revival), bliish.com (facebook alternative), neocities (geocities revival) and more. it's niche, and unique. it's basically a simulation of the web 2.0 (i think thats what its called) period of the internet. it's obviously better than modern, mainstream social media nowadays.
but what's YOUR opinion? modern, or revivals? honestly i prefer revivals for expressing myself on the web, because corporations don't rule the web. it's the users themselves. but for fandom shenanigans, i would prefer stuff like yt, tiktok or sum random stuff.

I strongly prefer revivals as the internet feels like a secret place we can escape to and meet new people, without letting it leech into our real life again! Plus I’ve gotten so pissed with corporations trying to monetize every inch of the internet that revivals act as a breath of fresh air, since they’re also passion projects almost all the time!
