Random things i did a few weeks ago

So i have recently graduated from high school and my first month after school have been pretty interesting for me, ill only go over the things i recently bought though. I went over to my friends house since he was having a garage sale and wanted to give me first grabs on stuff if i found anything, and i found a boy scout water canteen but the strap on it was broke and the canteen is a bit dented. even with how much dents are in it the thing still holds a bunch of water so im happy with it. after i got home i sewed the strap and now its perfectly fine, just looks a little weird where i fixed it.

on the left you can see this is before i fixed it and the strap was off

here is the strap fixed and see my totally perfect sewing job

then the next day i went to other garage sales and found a sale with a bunch of oil lanterns for very cheap, obviously i thought this was very suspicious because they looked very real, glass details, detailed chimneys fitting them. so i bought a smaller one for 3 dollars and immediately realized why, on the wick adjuster there's a made in hong kong stamped into the iorn or whatever metal it was, same on the bottom of the glass, made in hong kong. so i did some research and found oil lamps that are made in hong kong where made in the 50's and 70's as nostalgia pieces and sold in 5 and 10 stores. so technically they are old but just vintage. i did fill it with oil and lit the lamp just for fun and i can indeed confirm the fake lamp dose work.

anyways i was a little disappointed that the lamp was fake but i also knew it'd be fake since the price was so low. i now have it on top of a shelf as a decoration.
