Rehearsal in a new band

i just got back from my first rehearsal in a new band, it went alright but it definitely could have gone smoother... i started out my day at my parents place on zero sleep so by the time it had reached 9:30 i went to sleep and i woke up around 5:00 with minimal time to pack my bags and make it back up to London on the train. by the time i was back up, i went to my place to drop off some of my clothes and pick up some picks. when i got to the rehearsal space, which was just a room at my uni, i was about 40 mins early, so i settled into the room and set up most of my stuff before going to the instrument hire room. i couldn't be bothered to bring my own bass because it's too heavy to carry across the underground and i knew i could just pick one up at the space. but when i got the p-bass i realised the strings on it were, ancient and had lost their top end sheen. when i plugged into the amp it was so muddy and had no clarity at all. it was difficult to discern notes from each other. i spent some time going over the songs we were going to look at over the following 2 hours.

Here i am (with my un-straigtened hair because i couldn't be bothered to do so earlier):

once the other bandmates had arrived i went into a corner store to pick up an energy drink and then we went in to practice. just like i had thought, my bass had zero clarity and was really difficult to hear, playing some notes it completely inaudible!! but we still got through the songs. at one point the guitarist's drink ahd fallen end spilled all over an expensive keyboard and we had to rush to clean it up before it did any rally bad damage, luckily it was fine in the end but i had to remind him that we should try not to damage the equipment in the room... we finished up at around 9:00 pm and all went home, i can't wait to sit back and talk to my friends for the rest of the night. i'm DEFINETLY taking my own bass next time! 

We're  meeting again on wednesday for a small photo shoot and then again on Friday for another rehearsal. i can't wait, and of course, I'll Keep u all updated!!
