hi friendrewind. it's day three for me. first of all, i want to clear up a misconception; i'm not some guy who completely lost his mind, rejecting the internet and stuck somewhere between 2007 and 2013. well, maybe i have a point in the "losing my mind" part, but the second part isn't true lol.
i just felt like for a long time, i wasn't using the internet anymore it was using me. so i decided to actually commit to something i kept starting and quitting.
along the way, I’m going to recommend a few things that might be useful for you guys too;
if you're on desktop, these two youtube extensions do a great job at putting an end to the recommendation garbage and the forced content that keeps showing up even after you hit "not interested":
unhook
blocktube
for daily internet use, you can use RSS to stay away from time-wasting, brain-rot mainstream bait content. RSS lets you gather everything you love on the web (though some platforms might have restrictions) onto a single, personalized page just for you. your favorite podcasts, news, videos, channels, etc. this way, you get to escape the internet's cesspool and build your own safe space.
for the apple ecosystem: netnewswire
and for all platforms: feedflow
switching back to using forums instead of mainstream social media platforms will also make your life way easier (in every sense).
plus, GET INTO THE HABIT OF BOOKMARKING IN YOUR BROWSER!
