rip bonnie tyler (1951-2026)

i've never been a huge fan of her music, but there's something undeniably unique when it comes to tyler's raspy, emotive vocals. her more well known power ballads, such as "total eclipse of the heart", conjures up thoughts of a smoky ol' roadhouse off the beaten track, and the lonely blue collar truckers that hole up for a few cold brews and to whittle away the time.

that image rings true when you consider that this small town welsh gal went on to inspire some notable and popular country artists, including shania twain, carrie underwood and melissa etheridge. as far as her influence on pop culture itself goes, i can't think of any karaoke bar i've been to where "holding out for a hero" hasn't been sung. it's just so iconic in that respect.

anyway, one song in particular seems ever so poignant with her recent passing.

so i figured i'd share it here.

rip bonnie. </3
