Screaming For Vengeance: unprofessional review(or simply my thoughts on the album)

okay, i thought i'll start posting my thoughts about albums i've listened to. even tho it's been a long time since my first Judas Priest listen(i'm a fan), Screaming For Vengeance has me in a chokehold. literal masterpiece.

genre: heavy metal | release year: 1982 | band: Judas Priest

more heavier side of their commercial direction.

i have to address the artwork first: i genuinely think it's one of the best album covers i've seen. seems simple, but powerful. bright yellow colour immediately draws attention.

now, some performance details: i think Halford's vocals on this album are crazy. now, you might think "there are far more impressive examples of his vocals!" and i agree, but his pitch? tone? whatever that is called? scratched my brain in exactly right way. i enjoyed KK Downing's performance on guitar, riffs and solos are rocking, heavy and interesting to listen.

now, the songs: perfect. not a single song i hate. they are unique, mix of insane vocals, drums, bass and guitars make them sound exactly what you'd expect from Judas Priest, but make it 100x better.:daydream:

the only song that didn't sit right with me was "You've Got Another Thing Comin'". don't get me wrong, i really loved the meaning behind it and lyrics, but this song was softer, and it threw me off guard. band's forever classic, no doubt, it's good, just not my cup of tea.:hmm:

songs i liked:

  • "Bloodstone" - fuck, this guitar intro that goes into riff, and then that catchy chorus that makes you wanna scream your lungs out... hell yeah/
  • "Take These Chains" - not sure if considered a hv metal ballad, but it has such a powerful message that really got to me on a personal level/
  • "Screaming For Vengeance" - title track. fast, heavy, and a dual-guitar solo by KK Downing and Glenn Tipton which blew my mind. also liked the way drums sound here!/
  • "Fever" - melodic, heavy ballad with guitars that kick ass. do i need to say more?/
  • "Devil's Child" - i wish that was a hit song. Rob's high notes make me shudder, but here... i had an eargasm. it really kept up with whole album, considering this is the last track./

now, in conclusion: album is a fucking 11/10. i loved every detail, every instrument, i loved the way songs sound melodic and heavy at the same time.

LITTLE NOTE! i'm not a professional. i don't play any of instruments, i know nothing about vocal techniques, music theory or production. i'm a casual listener!
