Spider-Man: Brand New Day

There was definitely a lot that I wish we hadn't gotten to miss out on and should've been better explored, like his journey figuring things out solo or his relationships with other heroes/vigilanties. Or even just more with the Scorpion. It could've made for a good story. They could've still had the same plots with Damage Control and their use of weapons, with the backbone history between Spider-Man, alien weapons, and Mac Gargan. He'd get out and get payback, maybe have a villain team-up. The end-credit scene of Spider-Man: Homecoming has him saying that he has people on the outside who would like to get their hands on Spider-Man, and that would've been good to acknowledge and use. They still could've had Peter mutate and make the universal inhibitor to introduce all of that introspective and future project influences, which I liked to have gotten in this as it brings about the idea of change, inner conflict, and the moral/ethic implications of altering yourself and others. 

I had thought that we would have gotten some actual Spider-Man villains in this other than the beginning scenes and Scorpion being used as a puppet, but I can understand why they did Jean Grey to introduce the mutants and X-Men more in the MCU, and as Peter's DNA continues to mutate, he makes the universal inhibitor, which is surely to be used later on.

They could've used this movie to introduce/re-introduce vigilantes into the MCU, bringing Spidey street-level and showing a different side of the universe other than the "big potatoes" being such a large focus. I haven't seen more recent Marvel projects in the last few years other than a few things, so maybe there are a couple that can be excluded, but I wish that the MCU becomes a little more down-to-earth and just slows down to focus on people and ideas better individually, rather than all thrown in a pot and mixed together.

I had heard that they deleted a scene where Claire Temple showed up taking care of Peter? That would've been good to have kept in. I'm just now watching Luke Cage, and I've seen her in Jessica Jones S1, and of course Daredevil, so I like her character so far. Imma write a fic one day fixing things up.

I also don't know if I believe that Ned got his memories back. The handshake could've been like muscle memory, and he could've just realized that this could've been the same Peter that MJ called Spider-Man. But idk. I kinda hope that they don't remember, and the consequences of the spell last. He can still have a relationship with the two, but perhaps a new one would be better obtained, one mainly with Spider-Man rather than Peter Parker. The differences between knowing Peter Parker and watching him become Spider-Man and knowing Spider-Man and seeing him become Peter Parker are different relationships that can be studied in regard to before/after the spell, which I would like to happen. I would've liked to see him try to keep his distance even after getting back into their lives to give that sense of guilt and protection.

I love that we got to see more of Bruce/Hulk and Frank, since I've grown a love for them recently. So both of them being in a Spider-Man movie, my fav, feels like a dream come true. 

I also like the mirroring between Tony and Peter in this. Seeing him at his desk working on things, talking to his A.I., the shots where we see inside his mask, even him creating something meant for good that is only going to end badly, I couldn't help but see Tony in him. Peter is now his own person but is still influenced by Tony Stark, even just for the audience's sake.

I've been waiting for this Spidey to have a moment where New York showed up for him. Tobey has the train and bridge scene, Andrew has the crane scene, and now Tom has this vigil and cheer. Those scenes are some of my favorites, so I was happy that this Spider-Man finally got to have a taste of it.

I still really enjoyed this movie and can't wait to watch it again when it streams.
