For the longest time, I've seen people debate which fields are the most important ones. Usually most would say STEM is the more important one. STEM brings many advancements to humanity, improving the quality of life and bringing new inventions. However, some would argue that humanities is more important as it answers the introspective questions such fields are philosophy, literature and so and so forth. Many people devalue humanities because it doesn't bring the value, the definiton of value that we understand, to the world.
I've been thinking about this for a while, I'm someone who is deeply interested in STEM, but my interest also lies within humanities as well. I understand both sides of the arguments, but I can't help but feel that both sides are incredibly ignorant to the benefit and value both fields bring. As usual, most internet debates are just people from both extremes arguing even if the topic itself is nuanced.
I think the best answer would be is that they are as equally important. STEM as I mentioned before, brings us many advancements that can potentially make life easier for people to live (well, that's also debatable considering most advancements aren't made for the betterment of the people or if they are there's plenty of drawbacks and consequences--usually financial ones) while humanities gives life, well, life. Humanities produce entertainment in short, from humanities students we get books, movies, music, philosophical topics we can ponder over, and so and so forth.
This was not really in depth as much as I'd like for it to be, I'm a bit tired and just wanted to get my thoughts across.
