stuff that i collect

i start collecting things like this since i was a highschoolers. i always dream about how my childhood can be if i grew up with all of this stuff .

The stuff in here came mostly from my dad's collection when he was in his 20's and i keep adding the collection to fill my cabinet!

SONY DIGITAL8 HANDYCAM RECORDER DCR-TRV740E

i got this camcorder from my dad's cabinet sitting there eating dust for almost 10 yrs. when i first discovered this camcorder, i quickly search for 8mm tape that my dad's been storing in the cabinet as well. i get to see how my dad and my mom's wedding cuz my dad is storing the copy of the 8mm that have been taping the whole wedding process. i usually use this camcorder for making fun video with my friends, the CCD censor in this camera really bring back the old nostalgic vibe that we as a child saw in every family vacation.

SONY PORTABLE MINIDISC RECORDER MZ-R909

"a minidisc? what's that?" the same question always asked when i show off this stuff but actually, this thing rock hard in japan back then. as a portable player, minidisc got an advantage to store and produce CD-quality music but takes up smaller media to store it. its kinda a niche thing bcs its only famous in japan and not the rest of the world, and bcs my dad back then was working in japan, he got this stuff to carry around his own-made mixtape. tbh, this stuff its really great if u still got it in a mint condition, u could make ur own mixtape with this and the minidisc itself isnt that big. the size of a minidisc is about a pack of cigarettes but thinner like 2 credit cards stacked. 

SONY PORTABLE CD PLAYER D-NE820

got this stuff back then when i was surfing around my local marketplace. it listed as a junk/as is in the description but i look around it and give it a shot just bcs it looks normal. turns out, when the things came to me, it just need some new and fresh battery to spin also a little cleaning around the battery contact since it was corroded over the time. it runs well and also got a good shock resistant since a cd player could skip and/or stop playing if they got a shock or vibration. i also happen to get an accessory for this thing bcs the accessory in the portable minidisc could be use in here too. it costs me around $7 and its pretty much a good investment since im trying to switch to physical media.

SONY PLAYSTATION PORTABLE PSP-1000

okay, im kinda in the fomo bandwagon this time, not bcs for the nostalgic shit that happened earlier in the year 2025 but bcs of how i want to own PSP from my childhood. luckily, one of my friends ask me about if i look for a psp to buy and i confidently say "yeah, i do" "what about it?". turns out, he got one from his collection and want to sell it but never got any buyer bcs not many ppl looking for psp at that around of time. long story short, he sold his psp to me for cheap price and i dont really negotiate about the price he's asking to me, like $10 for a set of working psp complete with game and other attachment? hell yeah! 

now i carry it sometimes when i go outside or even go to campus, i usually use it for playing music bcs the battery on the psp is not really the best considering they got a small battery so its not really that useful for gaming nowadays. i already replaced the battery with a new one just bcs i want to get a good battery life, i also got the clear hardcase bcs i scared if i dropped my psp accidentally it would make a dent in the body. i also got the psp remote for the music control and it helps me so much when playing music from psp. 

SONY PROFESSIONAL CAMERA RECORDER DSR-PD170P

this one i got it for pretty cheap after some hours looking on marketplace. again, the seller list it as "as is" product bcs they got no battery or adapter to test if its working or not. the seller asking for around $30 and i think that's a fair price considering i still gamble for the camera itself. it looks pretty good, not many fault when i see the advertisement so i think they gonna turn on later when i alr got it. times passed and the thing is sitting neatly right here inside my glass showcase ready to go whenever i need it. it runs perfectly, i just need some cleaning in the lens and the tape mechanism but eh i dont really care since the glass itself its pretty sharp and i record with tapeless setup which i dont really use tape nor the tape mechanism itself. pretty much my biggest trophy i ever got from marketplace considering this is a beast back in the day this camera released. 

SHARP CRT TELEVISION 14V20D2

okay, so this one is funny as hell. the story about this tv is pretty sketchy while funny at the same time. one time im visiting my friend's house and i ask him if he happen to have some sort of old stuff laying in his storage. basically, he said no but he happens to remember that he got this tv in his old cabinet. we both then take it out and test it and its actually work holy shit. but the thing is, he's living in a rented house, and he said that this came with the house when he first moves out. but he told me not to worry if i want to bring the tv with me, he's said that bcs the homeowner is a shitty person he doesnt gaf if i take some stuff out of his rented house. it's actually pretty sketchy since we never know that the homeowner's realize or not of the tv's not being there since my friend's already moves out to another place lololol
