Suppppp

I've been bored out of my mind, and primarily surfing through various forms of media- such as movies of nostalgia and old YouTube videos that ring the same tune. Overall, I think I've been surging further into various screens than I have into the pages of the book I've been trying to read since practically the end of last year. I'll admit, I personally find Dracula by Bram Stoker to be a bit of a bore. But I can't help the curiosity of what happens in the end. I've heard countless times of a character's merciless end- but then there's always the rest of the characters that I want to know the end of. I think I just want the book to be better than my own personal view of 1984 by George Orwell. Sure, it's a classic, and it should be treated with the respect of a classic. But I think there was a sense of undeserving respect in the narrative of the main character. That could just be how the main character was written, but it could also be how George Orwell genuinely saw his main character.

This might sound a little childish- but the illustrations in the book, as well as on the cover are much appreciated and, personally, I think they give the perfect amount of gothic beauty that Dracula has always exerted since the day it grew in popularity. Specifically, in the edition I have, the illustrations were by Kaitlin Chan- and they're so weird whilst managing to maintain some sense of dark charm. Yet, despite this dark charm still comes the problem of boredom that seems to plague the book whenever I dare open the cover. I believe that it's solely due to the fact that within two chapters of reading it, Johnathan Harker still doesn't appear to have a root cause. Of course, he plans to meet with the Count, and to possibly learn as many recipes as he possibly can in Transylvania, but that seems to be all there is to him in the early chapters of the book. Maybe I'm wrong- maybe he's some swoon-worthy golden retriever ken doll of a muppet man who just wants some damn recipes during his little adventure in Transylvania. But also, I can't stop the feeling that he's literally just another worthless character.

Anyway, hopefully after I publish this blog, I stop procrastinating reading the actual book I'm blogging about, lol.
