i think everyone likes to make out that the og avengers were this big found family group that lived together 24/7 and loved eachother (i think this is mostly due to marvel tiktok, fics and such) but they were solely coworkers. they didn't even like each other that much as coworkers, their relationships were professional and transactional and i think we see this show a little more in civil war.
the x-men however, particularly under the guidance of professional x, have a strong emphasis and understand of mentorship and helping young mutants find themselves. this familial aspect of guiding and helping eachother is central to the idea and identity of being a mutant and an x-men. the team is their chosen family, mutants often more often than not faced rejection, hate, and prejudice from their biological families, and the x-men provides a sense of belonging and acceptance in a world full of hate and fear directed towards them. sorry this is so long lol
