Movie Review (sort of)

Hello everyone

I have thoughts about the movie adaptations of The Hobbit (1937) and I need to get them out of my head here. I'll try to make it as short as possible since I don't want this rant to be too messy...lol.

I'll start by saying that it's my first time watching them and I understand now why many people (from what I've seen at least) are not satisfied with them. It's true that if you've read the book, it can be hard not to be disappointed. Is it selfish of me to ask for an accurate movie adaptation ? Maybe...

Some original scenes are not included, some are added to create a new intrigue with some characters who were not in the novel or briefly mentioned.

It sometimes feels like the reason they don't include certain parts is to not have a 3 hour long movie. Alright I hear that ! Then why do they add stuff nobody seemingly asked for that will completely change the pace of the story ?

Do not get me started on Beorn. In my humble opinion, he was one of the characters who had the most detailed description about his appearance. Oh my goodness...they read that whole paragraph with their eyes closed, I swear ! Wasn't he supposed to be this giant bearded man with dark eyes and a beard ? In the film, his design didn't scream "man who can transform into a bear". It was more porcupine-like to me lmao.

Final notes (see, I kept it short)

To be fair, I do think they're still fun to watch ! I just enjoy thinking critically (John Wolfe reference). Bilbo's casting was really good, yep, that's a perfect hobbit right there. Gandalf makes this whole thing better. <3 Thranduil...(he's gorgeous and I'm easy, sorry.)

The blue contacts of Legolas. (goofy)

That's all for me folks, see you next time !

“bearded man with a beard”…darn. I can be so dumb sometimes but that’s funny so I’m not changing it. ^ - ^
