The Internet Used to Feel Like Home 🖤

**if you're reading this... you're officially part of the rewind.** 🖤

remember when the internet felt... different?

when blurry camera photos were somehow the best ones.

when we'd spend hours customizing our profiles instead of doomscrolling.

when your mood was basically determined by what song was playing on your page.

when comments actually meant something, and you'd stay up until 3 AM talking to friends about absolutely nothing.

i miss when everything wasn't about algorithms. i miss when being online actually felt personal.

so here's your reminder...

take the picture, message your friends first, make the playlist, be unapologetically yourself, and never let the part of you that loved the early internet disappear.

if this made you smile, leave a comment and tell me what you miss most about the old internet. maybe we're all just a bunch of elder emos trying to find our way back home. 🖤

Unfortunately, I didn't really get to really experience that era of Internet.

As I was born quite later though i had some glimpse of 2012 Internet when I was like 8 watching some YouTube Videos on a relatives home.

I only got a gripes of internet when it was mostly turning into what it was now.

But back in like 2014 I was just downloading ROMs off CoolROMs and other website and downloading some videos here and there and other stuff.

But when it comes to Social Media I only got it when it's pretty much turning to what it's now.

Honestly, I really liked the Aesthetic and Vibes of Mid 2000's - Late 2000's Internet more, it's much more lively and each websites had it's own personality and had very creative designs.

It felt quite organic compared to what we have now if you're seeing "Facebook", "X" (Formerly "Twitter".), "YouTube" all felt too Corporately Polished.

Thankfully we got websites like this and "KamTape" which somehow trying to bring Mid 2000's - Late 2000's Internet Aesthetic and Vibes.

And I wish all the success on these websites and I hope the community on these websites would be very chill and bring Politics out and all sorts of toxicity that's not unfortunately infecting the Major Websites like "Facebook", "Twitter" (Now "X".) and "YouTube".

We need to be chill here.

And as far as I'm concerned I'm happy on how things are turning out here on "FriendRewind" and people seem to be more laid back and chill and I hope it remains that way as this website grows.

Fantastic. Yeah, things felt a lot more laid back, more natural. I also miss the design aesthetic of that time as well, stuff like what is now called Frutiger Aero, with skeuemorphic designs. I'm tired of the flat minimalism, maybe a gradient if someone's feeling brave.

I couldn't agree more. Everything felt more creative back then. Every profile, website, and app had its own personality instead of everything looking the same. I definitely miss all the glossy buttons, crazy colors, and over-the-top designs. It just felt more fun.

I do agree, I prefer how many websites from that time looked like.

The designs were more creative and quite compelling with nicer colours and not too polished.

Now the Major Websites like "Facebook", "YouTube" and "Twitter" (Now "X".) is very corporately polished and quite bland looking.

Thankfully we got websites, like this which somehow carries the Mid 2000's - Late 2000's Internet Aesthetic and Vibes which I absolutely like.a

And I'm happy that many here were just pretty laid back and chill which adds to the experience.

Unlike in Major Social Network Websites, you could see posts where people tend to be Politically Chaotic and pretty toxic.

I'm quite happy we somehow got this website, it's not perfect but it's somehow actually good and I wish all the best for FriendRewind.

It feels like people here actually enjoy expressing themselves instead of trying to fit the same template. Every profile has its own personality, and that's something I really missed. The laid-back community is a huge part of it too. It's refreshing to log in and just enjoy people's creativity again. Hopefully Friend Rewind keeps that vibe for a long time.
