when did we become so impatient?
i don't know. maybe i'm just a hopeless romantic scratch that im not actually one ,
but seriously, whatever happened to the slow burn?
the kind where you don't know how someone feels about you yet. where every little interaction means something, where you catch yourself thinking about a conversation hours after it's ended. where you get to know someone slowly, without feeling like you have to rush towards something just to prove that it's going somewhere.
i feel like we want everything so quickly nowadays. we want the talking stage to become a relationship, the relationship to become something serious, and everything in between to come with a label. we want to know if someone likes us before we've even figured out whether we like them.
and maybe that's the problem. maybe we're so busy trying to find out how things end that we forget to actually experience them.
but then again, i have to wonder if i'm romanticising something that doesn't even exist anymore. or perhaps something that never really existed outside the pages of a book.
because what if i'm not even longing for love itself? what if i'm longing for the feeling of it? the anticipation, the uncertainty, the possibility that something beautiful could happen without having to force it?
and honestly, that makes me think.
because i don't want to spend my life waiting for someone to come along and make it feel like a story. i want a life that feels like mine, with or without a love story in it.
