The Silence of The Lambs (1991)

I watched this on VHS since I've been lucky with my collecting lately. The film grain totally adds to the experience of watching this. The tape was in perfect condition which is fantastic. 

When I first watched Silence of The Lambs eight-ish years ago I really didn't pick up on any underlying themes. I only watched it for the horror aspect (there's still plenty of that) and didn't care very much for Starling as a character. Being older now, I'm seeing themes of female experience, opression, and sassy cannibals. 

Still a fantastically engaging movie, but I am disappointed the following movie focuses so much on Hannibal as opposed to the Buffalo Bill victims. 

On the topic of the movie's transphobia, I heard the line about him mistaking himself for a woman and being rightfully turned away. I still think it's impolite, especially as there isn't a positive word about the other side. I can be convinced the movie isn't so bad, but the cultural impact it left is a net negative for transexuals.
