Surprisingly good for a remake. It's grimy, gross, and dramatically gory. I always enjoy equal opportunity kills and this film lets the men suffer just as much as the women do. The vegan themes from earlier are lost in this version and I didn't find any greater political values in its place.
The costuming is fantastic and I really enjoyed the colour grading as well. Jessica Biel kills it as the final girl, delivering very convincing fear and a tense frantic energy to her action. I felt as though many of the kills and scenes are unique enough to be engaging while still paying homage to the original.
Overall, I don't have a ton to say on this film because despite the original TCM being the first film I ever watched as a child (And the first film to give me nightmares) I'm not very attached to the series.
This one is worth a watch if you can stomach endless despair and brutality.
