The Texas Emo Scene (I originally posted this on spacehey)

Over that past couple of months I've been diving into the rabbit hole that is the emo scene in my home state of Texas.  I have to say that screamo and midwest emo (South midwest emo?) are definitely the most popular genres among diy bands in the emo scene here. I discovered most of the bands through a youtuber who goes by Torn Cartilage (Check him out👀) out on youtube, who is in alot of diy bands, mainly in the San Antonio-Austin area. Two of his bands that I know of are SeeYouSoonTX (The band I'm going to see) and Oncemore who is actually dropping a new album pretty soon. Anyways Torn Cartilage talks about how to contribute in your local scene and talks about politics and other things of the sort, but alot of videos he talks about the local emo scene (And sometimes deathcore or other myspace scene type bands) But he has sort of served as my gateway into all of this. 

Some of the bands I have come across or found from him is

-SeeYouSoonTX (Emotional pop punk with screamo elements, from San Antonio, active)

-Oncemore (Emo/ Screamo, From San Antonio, active)

-Party Hats (Screamo with midwest emo influences, From Denton, more popular than the others but is still great, broke up like 2 years ago cuz one of their members was a pred)

-Obdormition (Bedroom Screamo, I don't believe they tour/ do shows, unknown where they are from other than that they are from Texas. Unknown if they are active or not.)

-SundayButHoursAway (2nd wave emo inspired, from San Antonio, doing a show on the 26th in Austin I think, Active)

-Certain Seasons aka Phonefoot (Emo, from San Antonio, active)

-Safelyhome ( Screamo, from Corpus Christi, Active)

-Always Never Stays (Emo, from Denton, active)

-Destroy All! Humans (Deathcore, from San Antonio, active)
