The tokio hotel fandom ✮⋆˙

If you guys know me, you may know that I'm a Tokio Hotel fan (though it's plastered everywhere if you look at my profile ;p). I really enjoy their music and I have met really nice people from the fandom! Although, let's say that there are some things that piss me off when being in this fandom, which I'll get to now! ✮⭒˚.⋆

Even though Tokio Hotel fans can be fun and kind and all that jazz, there's times when the fandom really annoys me, and let me tell you why; first of all, many people, (not every fan ofc) both in the 2000's and now, seem to ignore Georg and Gustav. Like helloo, without them Tokio Hotel wouldn't even be Tokio Hotel! I genuinely don't get why people leave them out, they don't deserve the hate or that kind of treatment :( they're all awesome people, both the twins and Georg and Gustav, and they all deserve the same respect and love from fans. For me, I always thought Gustav was the most left out. Watching interviews from the 2000's, he'd get made fun of for his weight, or he'd never really have been given a microphone by the interviewers, like what the heck :(

Secondly, for some weird, baffling reason, there's people who ship Tom and Bill together... they're twin brothers. That's disgusting and inexcusable, and I bet Bill and Tom would be so damn uncomfortable knowing about the incestuous fanfics, fanarts etc.

Speaking of fanfics and stuff, this is just something that came to my mind now, but if you are a Tokio Hotel fan you probably would have heard about "My Living Nightmare", a fanfic in which Tom is a ruthless, cold and violent mafia leader in Tokyo who keeps women as his 'pets' and does horrible stuff to them. Hear me out, the edits are pretty impressive, but I really don't get why this fanfic is so popular amongst fans. It's giving booktok and dark romance tiktok stories, like wut..idk man cuz Tom would never do these things so there was no need to potray him like this 😭

Also if you're a Spanish-speaking fan, you might have heard of another fanfic called "Muñeco" by Sarae. Again, why. What was the need to write this, it's all about incest wtf.

Additionally, something that I think it's bad coming from some people is the fact that they think that Tokio Hotel looks "ugly" now, or that they're "boring". I get it, I'd love to experience being a fan in the 2000's and seeing them as teens, but you can't criticise or complain about their appearance because THEY GREW UP. And as for the music, I get it too. I'm gonna be honest, I don't really listen to their more modern music, only a few songs, but I certainly prefer their older songs. but that's the thing, as they grew up and changed, so did their music - and it's fine that you don't like their newer songs, being a fan doesn't mean that you have to listen to every single song religiously, but there's no need to complain about how Tokio Hotel looks or sounds now, especially knowing the hard times they went through as teens, as they struggled a lot with fame, stalkers, hate, and, in Bill's case, sexual identity. They're clearly more happy now, and that's great for them; you can't force them to change back to their old style because you find them "ugly".

Another thing is how sexualised Tokio Hotel members are, especially Tom. You ever be scrolling on your socials, looking at cute and funny Tokio Hotel posts when you suddenly come across the most diabolical, jaw-dropping, perverted ass edit of them? For example, just yesterday i saw this video captioned "rating how tight the th members are"...wtf. You deadass can't call yourself a "fan" if you post shit like this, it's disgusting.

Lastly, something else I don't like is how limited the representation in this fandom is. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH AHH, many people expect you to be emo/grunge/goth if you like Bill, (and trust me, that is not the case. I'm a Bill girl myself and I'm not like that at all 😭) or if they simply find out you like Tokio Hotel! I get that some of Tokio Hotel's old songs are very sentimental and sad, such as "Don't Jump", "Rette Mich" or "Vergessene Kinder", but I wouldn't say Tokio Hotel is completely emo 😭 that's just my opinion though, don't come at me. Anyways, what I'm trying to say, is that you really don't have to be emo just cuz you like Tokio Hotel, come on 😭

Additionally, if you're a Tom fan, you're meant to dress all Mcbling and like 2000's Megan Fox?? I know it sounds weird, but I'd see these "You're going on a date with Tom/Bill!!" slideshows on tiktok and those are the only options you'd have 😭. I don't know if I explained myself correctly, but this is something I find kind of annoying; yes, you can dress Mcbling and like Tom/dress emo or grunge and like Bill, but there's people with different styles and aesthetics that like Bill and Tom.

Also I'm not sure what the case is for the Georg and Gustav fans, unfortunately I don't really get those type of posts on my social media so i don't know if the representation amongst their fans is accurate or not 😭

So yeahh, those are my pet peeves from the Tokio Hotel fandom, although with some of these people, i wouldn't really call them "fans" lolz. I'm not trying to hate on anyone, but I do think that this fandom can be quite toxic and weird sometimes, and I don't like that; instead we should be focusing on how talented and amazing the members are, and just enjoy their music and respect them and other fans too! :D
