tw: Suicide
Β The thing that makes The Virgin Suicides so interesting is the fact that the entirety of the film is from the perspective of an anonymous group of neighborhood boys. We never get to hear how the sisters were feeling about anything. We can only assume from what the boys were saying about them. this really intrigues me in a way because while the boys were absolutely viewing the girls lives from an objectifying and insensitive pov it really gives a good representation on how people feel when someone we don't know takes their life. You will never know how that person was feeling before they took their last breath and you'll never understand what they were going through. The only thing we'll ever have are assumptions from talks about how other people perceived them while they were living amongst us. People aren't curious about your life until you die or become famous. Anyway, don't do that. Eat ice cream instead.Β

just goes to show how life changing can be to become interested in someone and check on them
while also being sad as their POV is very limited, uncapable of seeing deeper than what they can see with their eyes
