So lately this video came on my Recommendations on YouTube.... (Here's the video link if you wanna check it out.... )
And I've been seeing news about this, that there are rumours that Sega might come back in the Console Market at least with a Handheld Video Game Console.
What do you guys think about it? For me, I'm not too keen about it though I hope it would be saving video Game Industry on what direction it'll be heading.
Since the rumours are just about Handheld Video Game Console, I don't see it's gonna be a huge deal.
I really don't see them ready enough to really step back and compete again as I don't see them having much exclusives under their belt for Modern Games to be released for it.
I don't know, I'm just kinda skeptical about this for some reason.

I dont think that they are gonna release a full on Console. While theyre Revenue has been going up a bit, its far from what it once was. Making a Console costs a fortune and I dont think they have the money to make a state of the art console right now.
I think the realistic scenario for a "new console" from Sega is, that it is going to be something along the lines of the SNES Mini. So sort of an Emulator with the Sega Classics looking like a mine Mega Drive or something.
Looking at how "SNK NEO GEO AES+" has been doing.... I'd appreciate if Sega would release an Arcade Console like a Consolized Sega Model 2 even if it's FPGA and not Original Hardware.
Where you could play Sega Model 2 Arcade Games even if it's Emulated but perfectly runs well.
And it'll come with an Arcade Stick and games would come on Game Cards.
I think that would decently sell well.

It would be pretty cool yeah. But I think the most realistic scenario would be a Sega "mini" Console with like 10-20 pre installed games instead of Cards or anything in the Likes. Original Hardware probably wont be a thing since its simply not produced anymore. If its gonna be like the mini consoles released by competitors like Nintendo or Atari, its gonna be much more like an overpriced Emulator looking like a mini console.
If you're in to it and want the original console you can probably get it for under 100 Euro on Ebay, in Europe at least (Thats how I get my Retro consoles at least :) ). Looking at the prices of similar products it may be even cheaper to buy the real console.

I don't think Sega could even cheaply produce the "Sega Model 2 Arcade Hardware" at all.... LOL XD
It was pretty cutting edge and quite expensive when it came out and I'm sure it'll be expensive if they produce it now given the resources they could have.
I think the best way was FPGA Emulation and as far as I'm quite concerned Sega Model 2 Emulation seems fine so far.
So I think they could produce a Consolized Sega Model 2 Arcade that's quite reachable for consumers so we could play Arcade Perfect "Virtua Fighter 2" at home although there's Sega Model 2 Emulation on PC like MAME and others.

I feel like right now is pretty much the worst time to come into the gaming device market, considering the cost of stuff these days, as demonstrated by how much the GabeCube ended up costing. Still, if they do step in, best of luck. I have plenty of fond memories gaming on a Mega Drive II in my childhood, I'm curious what they'd come up with nowadays, as I'd not heard from them much, if anything in recent news.
That's what I was thinking, with how expensive RAM is now they wouldn't make much profit I think.
But regardless I wonder if it'll do good to have someone else competing. I feel like Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo have been stagnant since they're our only options for console gaming so they make money regardless of what they do, or lack of what they do.

Yeah, more competition is always welcome, so I at least hope the device ends up being good, even if the price isn't.
