This Site Has Become a Teen Confessional Booth

Every time I scroll through this place, the teenagers are posting things that are way too personal to be throwing out in public. It’s like they treat this app as a diary, a confessional booth, and a trauma dump all rolled into one.

And the adults here end up responding because there’s always that tiny voice saying:

“What if THIS time it’s actually serious?”

Half the time it’s:

• “I hate myself.”

• “My bf/gf won't text me back fast enough.”

• “I hurt myself.”

• “Something awful happened to me.”

And yes...I’ll say it... a lot of it feels made up for attention. There. I said it. If someone gets mad, they can get mad.

But that’s the problem... It’s impossible to tell what’s real and what’s theatrics. Almost all the teens overshare every dramatic detail of their lives just to see who reacts.

Anyway, I’m convinced half these posts should’ve stayed in a locked Notes app, but here we are, trying to figure out whether we’re witnessing a real crisis or just another episode of “teenagers posting everything that crosses their mind." Welcome to the show. This is me trying to help you. If you’re a teenager posting this level of personal, heavy stuff online, deactivate your socials until you’re older. You will thank yourself later. ……otherwise you’ll be stuck looking back at all this crap you posted, slapping your hand across your face, shaking your head, and feeling that brutal, stomach‑dropping embarrassment, the kind where you remember every overshare you made as a kid and wish you could scrub your entire digital footprint from existence.
