[Many thoughts I've had while reading act 1 to 4. I've yet to read everything after, so pretty please don't spoil anything for me. I don't know how I avoided spoilers this long, but I hope to keep it that way]
So, I finished reading act 4 yesterday. I am forever thankful to the 2 recap mid-comic that explains more-or-less linearly what just happened, because some things just go straight over my head/i forgot (the problem with starting reading 3 years ago, then picking it back up last year, then 2 days ago, and not starting over).
I feel I'm getting a good handle on What is going on though! And I am so obsessed with the idea of making OCs and everything, I keep getting distracted. I've filled about 4 different classpect quiz and gotten 5 different results. That's 5 free OCs for me B)
And the story is actually good like, there is so much cool worldbuilding and the character chat is so well written?? I apologize for underestimating you, webcomic. And while I was telling a friend about it, they said "of course you'd like karkat" which I don't know what it's supposed to mean about me but like, who am I to say no to a character who cares So Much but refuses to show it. (This is a First Thought on him, I may be dead wrong about my assessment of him) (this also applies to Dave) (unrelated, but I saw a Dave cosplay at a con and I'm so mad I didn't ask for a pic because I wasn't reading this back then)
Most of my thoughts are about how the webcomic has been "advertised" (or, what's the opposite of advertised? "Caution do not ever read it"?), because it's very unfortunate. It's good! And i spent about 10 years doing anything to avoid it because of everything I heard about it. First of all, the "longer than the bible" is, sure, impressive, but just scares off anyone who could be interested, unless they know their ability to read very, very long stories. Also many things are longer than the bible. Second, the fandom. Of course we've all heard horror stories of how the fandom behaved, both online and irl, but take a look at recent events in fandoms nowadays (which I do not keep up with, because it's a waste of time I can spend reading this thing) and it's not a Unique situation to homestuck. It's a lot of similar events in different fonts.
Anyway, it's never too late to change your mind on something and admitting you're wrong. I was wrong about this, and well this is teaching me to stop forming opinions based on others. And, Be Cringe and Be Free.
Angel, OUT

Ahh, another Homestuckie! :) Yes, Homestuck gets a really bad rep and it usually drives people away. Lots of icky people in the fandom and it's known as a bit of a 'roach' in many communities. But the story and the depth of a lot of things in the comic are quite detailed and are very interesting! Tiny details like character names or their hair/outfits, alongside all the complexity of the Sburb game itself and the rules around it (of which I assume you've mostly seen by now!)
I have so many issues with remembering events of act 4 and 5 (I've finished the comic), because I didn't really pay attention LOL. Good luck on the rest of your reading! The next acts get super good!!! :D
Thank you for the encouragements! Yeah I've been pushed to read it thanks to a related interest, I'm so impressed also by the diversity of medium (teehee) they use for the story-telling. The truest multimedia project ever. I will keep updating as I go, so until next time o/
