Toei animation...yap

A few months back i had finished rewatching (for the millionth time) the Swan Princess, and was in turn searching for a hand-animated fairytale from the same sort of era. Now, while i didn't find exactlyyyy that... what i did discover was a new style of animation that would become a real favourite for me!

mixing Ghibli-style animation with the old-fairytale vibe brought me to Swan Lake, 1981!

This movie is so beautiful, and like The Swan Princess, it's a take on Pytor Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake ballet. the hauntingly beautiful soundtrack matching the beauty of the animation was enough to make me rewatch on the same night i first watched it... i have waaay too much free time.

well, because i ended up liking Swan Lake so much, i looked more into Toei animated-classics. That lead me to watching 'The Wild Swans', which is a fantasy movie that was just as beautiful.

Swans are so elegant, and when they are presented in movies animated by the Toei company, it's always executed well. i feel like they become less of an animal and more of an essence-- the films are so graceful.

just like ghibli, i find a sense of comfort while watching Toei animation works-- im still wanting to watch their take on Thumbelina, as i really really super love Thumbelina by Don Bluth.

ps. Most movies by Toei Company are on youtube for free.. and sometimes dubbed! if you're a ghibli fan, or you just enjoy a good heartwarming movie i really encourage you to check them out! it seems like they dont get a lot of reach nowadays, which is such a shame as i believe they should have a similar level of hype to Ghibli.

anywaaaay... so thats how i discovered my love for Toei animation!! yap over heh

the beautiful cover^

just look at the art... Wow! if u like the manga series 'Candy Candy', you may also like the art style of this as Yumiko Igarashi (the artist of Candy Candy) did the character designs for this movie.

i really am starting to sound like an advertisement rn....

pps.... heres a link to da movie.

watch it or else.
