two of us fake beatle movie review

i watched ‘two of us’ (2000) for the 3rd time for global beatles day n i love it so much so im gonna yap about it

SPOILER WARNING OBVI

also if u decide u want to watch this movie n dont like mclennon (ship between john lennon n paul mccartney) there is a lil kiss scene between paul n john n the whole movie is jst them

ok so two of us is a movie about paul and john after the beatles broke up n its a what if /fake story about paul deciding to visit john’s apartment in new york and they basically jst hang out n argue n do random shit the whole movie

on letterboxd i gave it 5 stars (tho tbh i give out 5 stars very easily bc i jst love movies n the time, love n effort put into movie making, its so impressive n takes so much work)

the dialogue between john n paul is very good imo, the actors had great chemistry that was perfect for john n paul n evrytime they argued it made me think of this quote from john saying “if i can’t have a fight with my best friend [then] i dont know who i can have a fight with” that quote is evrything to me n mclennon especially in this movie when they fought they got right back to normal joking n banter, except 1 fight where they started to get too emotional n personal w their attacks at each other n paul almost left the building but at the last minute he turned back around n came back while john was getting ready to chase after paul n again they were right back to jokes n banter

theres a very cute interaction between paul n sean, in the movie sean n yoko r away on a work trip thing n john calls to check in on sean n decides to give the phone to paul to talk to sean n paul sings lil nursery rhymes n yknow talks to him n its very cute n john has a cute lil sean interaction on same phone call of john jst saying he loves sean n misses him but its jst so cute to me

theres a interesting scene where paul decides that john n paul should go on a walk n they go to the park n bump into hippies? playing music n doing illegal substances n the cops come which leads to paul n john having a short conversation about the morality of cops tho it gets brushed off after a couple mins but i liked how the movie shows john n pauls diff ideas n politics n personal philosophies n stuff like that bc i feel like john n paul go into very different directions in life after the beatles bc of stuff like that

theres also a couple scenes where it shows john interacting w fans who recognize him (n 1 person recognizes paul bc he wore his disguise longer than john) n shows john frustration w not being able to be left alone n dealing w ppl wanting the beatles to get back together n they r really very to watch n its kind of funny seeing paul jst there in a dumb disguise making fun

paul n john have a lot of deep conversations where they get really serious like 1 scene where they r on the roof of johns apartment n paul basically clocks john (in a way more affectionate serious way obvi) n a scene where john n paul talk about their fathers passing n how both their mothers n fathers passed around the same times n how they r kinda soulmates

n at the end theres this funny scene where john n paul r watching tv n see the snl skit where they invite the beatles on to reunite for 3000 dollars (which was a real snl skit btw) n in the scene john convinces paul to get his guitar n they go down to snl to as a joke perform but while paul gets his guitar, john gets a call from yoko(im pretty sure) n paul when he sees john on the phone decides to go home which makes me sad bc they had so much fun all day w each other which shows they do have a strong bond even when separated jst for it to end so quickly n for them to prob never interacted again

anyways so that was random scenes n things in gen i enjoyed w this movie n i highly recommend it but again keep in mind these r fictional events

thats all ive got to say, u should tots watch it if u havent n if u have pls tell me ur thoughts on it

roz out!!
