maybe I'm just kind of stupid but the first puzzle is kind of hard or it's more so annoying because I don't remember where all the flowers are and it's kind of annoying having to flee from everything but I don't want to hurt anyone or anything :(

Dude don't feel about it. In the first room before the spike room, I spent like 20 minutes trying to "find the puzzle" when all I had to do was interact with Toriel
