I know that the "Starving artist" is the most common trope that you see but art is still a wanted thing. People still want creativity, passion projects, and to see art come to life.

Art comes with design principals in 3d modeling, painting, fabric dyeing, sewing, digital drawing, etc. You can get into fields such as game design, art history, graphic design, art directors, animators, art teachers, and art therapists.Ā Every degree has a job associated to it that pay good money. For example Graphic Designers on average make 61k, art directors make 111k, and animators make 99k a year.Ā

This does not include free-lance artists who make a killer living creating art and producing art which you can see online all the time.Ā

People still care about art, just not in the way they used to. Now instead of paying for custom wall art, they're paying for custom urns, custom wedding paintings, fursuits, digital art of their original character, animation commissions, custom planers, custom dnd character sheets, etc.. People, if anything, are creative about what they want more than ever.Ā

Every degree has a purpose and reason for existing, it just depends on what you do with it.
