Webtoon Reviews Backlog (Pt. 1)

Okay buckle in (myself, typing this). We're gonna have a BULLET ROUND of a bunch of webtoons I read in quick succession (over the course of, like, a week and a half). Condensed format to not have this one blog entry be suuuuuper long.

"I Possessed a Villainess, But I Wanna Raise Cats!"

Transmigrator Lewelyn (also spelled Lewein), obsessed with cats, marries cat-beastman and duke Dimitri Blois. Together they help the princess usurp her corrupt father for the crown and establish beastman rights.

Premise: 4/5, I like her backstory w her cats okay, it's emotionally resonant; Characters: 4/5; Tone: 4/5; Romance: 4/5, starts a little slow but cat obsessed x catman is p good, also <3 they have kittens; Art: 3/5, good but nothing super impactful; Ending: 3/5;

Notes: cute cat content good ML.

"The Male Lead Is Obsessed With Proposing To Me"

A webnovel reader transmigrates into Daphne, a lady from a rural count family. She is caught up in the tyrant emperor's schemes for being a "thorn of cloraceon," (⬅ definitely spelled wrong) an in-story term for those who know the future (transmigrators). Under threat of death, she entraps archduke Benelucia, the emperor's brother, to stop him from vying for the throne.

Notes: ooooooh Daphne you should've never forgiven him. You should have torn his ear off at your father's funeral, you should've had him pay your mother a million dollar pension for the rest of time, you should've gotten to be a villainess. . . .

"I Will Pay the Price For Deceiving You With My Life"

Ella (also spelled Ayla) is raised to kill Duke Rodrich Weishaffen. After accomplishing her task, the man she thought was her father has her drink poison and kill herself. After death, she wakes up in the past; the man she thought was her father had kidnapped her as a baby, and raised her to kill her real father and mother. In her second life, she will not let him suceed.

Premise: 4/5, revenge is always fun; Characters: 3/5, I really like Ophelia but background characters are underdeveloped; Tone: 2/5, could've been whumpier; Romance: 2/5, seems incredibly coincidental and tbh unnecessary; Art: 2/5; Ending: N/A;

Notes: could definitely lean more into the aftereffects of Ella's abuse

"The Young Emperor Is Obsessed With Me"

Archmage and witch of the forest Ariel Arundal is bound to a forest to preserve a seal on an interdimensional door. One day, a young abused prince finds his way into the forest, and Ariel teaches him magic and compassion. After 10 years of knowing eachother, Ariel is about to enter another decade-long rest to keep the seal, and she banishes the prince from the forest so he can start living his life for himself. The prince, confused, angry, and vengeful at being separated, seizes the throne and goes to burn the forest down to reunite with Ariel.

Premise: 4/5, fun, it's always better when it's not transmigration; Characters: 3/5; Tone: 4/5, yay, war PTSD!!; Romance: 4/5, a little obsession never hurt nobody; Art: 2/5, wonky someplaces; Ending: N/A;

Notes: Plots fun, the twist w the interdimensionality is a little, contrived? I guess, but that's just bc I don't like webtoon superhero urban fantasy genre stuff. Is a little too long and conflated for it's own good.

There are a couple other webtoons I've 85-90% finished so this is a pt. 1. Despite the ratings these ones were, overall, pretty good ones
