Whimsical this, whimsical that

The word whimsical has seemingly become the new internet's favourite word. 

On Tik Tok (apparently) people interpreted this as covering everything with rhynestones, that is enough to call the ultimate anticapitalistic trend into something you could buy, maybe, on the tik tok shop.
 
But what does it mean to be whimsical (or how they call it "whimsy-maxxing") and why now? 
I think the whole whimsical trend is rooted in something more deep than simply rhynestones or pictures of young skinny women running in the forest. 
For how I see it, being whimsical is about finding a way to play with the ordinary, find the magic in the usual, letting yourself being amazed. 

Greet the trees, watch the clouds, have fun with your appeareance, and everything you can to add "whimsy" to your life. When you look at these actions closely you see something quietly revolutionary.

It's not just saying "I refuse to become a boring adult" but when you purposely add little joy in your life by doing simple things, you're actually finding joy without the need to buy it.
It's free and it's always been there, but someone told you that you're being dumb or childish. But what's wrong about being like a child? Children are able to ask questions, they want to explore the world, they want to live in nature and are able to create little worlds in their small minds. That's the kind of magic that we lost growing up. We let go of that story we wanted to write because it was cringe, useless, not profitable.  

Capitalistic market love to convince us that we are miserable, ill, fixable and that they have the perfect product for you to achieve perfection. But when you find happiness in small things, you discover that everyone else lives in a fake world, and that they're not really able to see that. We've always been able to achieve that kind of magic, even if we need a little more time to relearn it. 
(So maybe let's not capitalize that)
