i don't mean to sound disrespectful but its a very bizarre choice / mindset to me . like i get it if its like from trauma or smth but i see way more ppl who seem to be trans for like no reason and they're always turning into men and most of the time they're like under 16 .. life didn't even start yet . its like they read to much yaoi and transition to be a gay man . if that was the case you'd be better be off being normal then making ur life 10x harder cs now u have a million trials and tribulations to go thru as a minority
but these days i also see a lot of ppl who say they were trans and found it to be a mental illness / phase . speaking of phases , why do ftm always look like tyler catastrophe ? like the ugly neck beard , weird hairstyle , disabled obese part ? is it bc of the hormones or what

most of these cases are mental illness, including low self-esteem, that is being given the band-aid of being transgender. regardless of popular opinion, it is an abnormal decision that is being encouraged & amplified for young people to make on social media, and -may- take some base in politics (i won't elaborate atm, it's irrelevant here). regardless of someone "feeling more comfortable as...", the truth is that it just is not normal. i say that in the same way we view depression, anxiety, bipolar... while there may be people who sincerely and unchangably feel they were born the wrong gender, it is not nearly as many people who claim they'd like to transition. in either case though, it is at best an illness on it's own or being marketed as the solution to others. i have known far too many young girls who once spewed their desire to be male then just a year or two later spiral into femininity once their life seems to improve. i've seen it much more commonly in those in mental hospitals and who don't live with/have a poor relationship with their parents.
genuinely, it's become a trend, or just an easy way to stand out. it's also become a way for people to feel they have control. it's no coincidence that so many of these youths partake in self-harm and have eating disorders -both of which are known to stem from the desire of having personal autonomy.
being trans was once (mainly) a last resort for those seeking to have same-sex relationships without the negative effects of doing so in public. as time has gone forth, i think it is less logical for us to have more desiring to take that path (considering the lax attitude about homosexuality now). i don't believe there are more people who want to be the opposite gender, and certainly now it's not necessary to feel safe in such a relationship (relatively. don't hound me). they say transgender people have existed since the dawn of time, maybe they have, but i'm sure most of those people did so (at least in the last 200 years) to protect their sexuality, or- fell beyond social norms -whether or not they were locally accepted.
as most of those i see taking this path are young white females, i think this is a way of trying to feel some uniqueness while also remaining a "minority". no one is going to give a middle-class or rich suburban white girl the same "sympathy pOiNtS" as a black/brown person -unless they're gay (lesbian), but not really, being gay has pretty much been normalized in the past 10, 15 years... there's gotta be something new that gives them something to moan over... that sounds harsh, but i think it's close to reality. to me, a lot of these people are ones to claim moral superiority and fight for xyz, but are very picky about who they choose to befriend... and hardly seem less than racist. that's not me claiming all the white rich(or not rich) trans- whatever's are racist, but it is based off my personal experiences -having lived in 3 states & in the heart of where this stuff usually takes place...
i think this is a mental health issue, but not solely; it is also an issue created by what the media promotes for the sake of supporting a feeling of moral superiority, a political party, and the pockets of physicians & pharmaceutical companies.

Being trans isn’t a mindset or choice, it just kind of happens to you, though you can discover that you’re transgender quicker through media. It happens due to a disconnect in the brain; the brain is a certain sex/gender, regardless of what the body is.
As pretty much the exact person you’re talking about other than the looks you described (under 16, gay trans guy) I didn’t choose to be like this. It just kind of happened one day when I decided that I actually hated being a girl and really enjoyed being a guy, like I was destined for it. It took me a while to realise what I was but I got it in the end
Being a minority does make life harder but I didn’t really choose to be like this so I kind of just have to live with it. I can’t control my brains identity.
Some trans people do look like what you said because there’s a correlation between transgenderism and over forms of non-conformity, autism, and physical disability. So a lot of us, including myself, are all of those three, both things partly caused by our autism
so yeah. we don’t choose this it just kind of happens

I think it's more of an identity thing
some people don't fit the stereotypics of their gender, which can lead up to them thinking that they were born in the "wrong body"
trans people could just be folks who wanna connect more with their true inner self and accept them as their true personas
