I LOOOOVE art and I have a few artists I look up to and admire. Today i would like to share what I love abt them along with a basic explanation of who they are with you guys!!! leave kudos if u care.. I would like to do this with all the artists i like, but I will start with Soejima bc I have been obsessed with his art since i got into Persona like a year ago and his art is such a big inspiration to me. I liked the art style b4 i even knew what the game was abt!!
Shigenori Soejima is the artist/art director for Persona games starting from Persona 3. He also worked on Catherine and Metaphor: ReFantazio, but i sadly haven't gotten the chance to play those games. Before him, Kazuma Kaneko was the artist for SMT and Persona 1-2. I'd like to mention Kaneko as well because I also love his art and designs!
I especially love Soejima's coloring style, especially the more watercolor and inky looking arts. The way he draws faces, and how he uses color codes for each Persona game/uses color in general is something i really like. Even if you didn't know anything about persona, you could easily tell which game is which because of the color coding and tones in the artwork. Shigenori is a big inspiration for me because of how he captures emotions, personalities, character interactions, his composition, it's something i could definitely learn from... (my art is very boring but i been trying to b more creative recently..)ย
I look up to Soejima a lot because I really want to be able to color/use colors in the same way he does and make character designs that can show a characters personality/who they are exactly with just one glance.

I really like the art for Catherine and I hope i get to play it soon, it looks really interesting.ย
I love to look at Soejima's art books on Internet Archive for the interviews and concept art. i LOVE concept art btw, its so fun to see how an artist's mind works and how they go about designing characters. I actually have a physical copy of the Persona 5 Official Design Works, and I could look at that thing for hours. Looking at concept art, artist interviews, and comments on characters/designs that show you whatthey were going for are just so amazing for artist studies or just trying to improve in general. Before i started doing this, i think i viewed art/character designs in a very shallow way, which i'm glad changed. Seeing how a professional artist thinks and changing my own way of thinking has helped me a lot, but i could still improve much more. I wish I could b as creative as Soejima. he is amazing!!!!!!!!!
