Why Shemyazza? | ¿Por qué Shemyazza? 🪽

🇬🇧 ENGLISH

If you've seen my username and wondered what “Shemyazza” means, there's a story behind it.

Shemyazza is one of the central figures associated with the Watchers in the Book of Enoch, an ancient Jewish text that has fascinated me for a long time.

The Watchers are described as heavenly beings who descend to Earth, cross a boundary that was never meant to be crossed, and become involved with humanity. Their story eventually becomes one of transgression, forbidden knowledge, consequences and judgment.

And that's exactly what fascinates me.

I don't find these stories interesting simply because they're “dark.” I'm interested in what happens when ancient religious figures are viewed from perspectives other than the traditional one.

What does forbidden knowledge actually mean?

Why are stories about crossing boundaries so common in mythology?

And why are figures associated with rebellion, knowledge and disobedience so often reduced to simple villains?

For me, Shemyazza represents that uncomfortable territory between obedience and knowledge. A figure connected to the decision to cross the line even when crossing it carries consequences.

My interest also extends to Lucifer, Lilith, ancient religious traditions, demonology, mythology and the ways these figures have been interpreted and reinterpreted across centuries.

You don't have to share my beliefs to find these stories fascinating. In fact, I usually find conversations with people who see them completely differently much more interesting.

That's part of why I'm here.

So if you're into mythology, religion, occult history, apocryphal texts or just strange old stories humanity has refused to forget, feel free to say hello.
