why YOU 🫵 should listen to dropping daylight

Yearrss ago I got really into this old myspace band, Dropping Daylight, and began my quest of archiving what little music they released, and making content about them. Which included stalking their old myspace page via the wayback machine to steal graphics [you can too]

For the few years they were active, they played Warped Tour, and toured with bands such as Hawthorne Heights, Flyleaf, Simple Plan, etc. The lead singer (Sebastian) contributed piano for Paramore's Riot! and vocals for Breaking Benjamin's Phobia. He also made music for a French animated kids show called Code Lyoko, which was credited as the English version of the fictional in-universe band "The Subdigitals"

After I got super into their only officially released album, Brace Yourself, I found out that their second unreleased album, Flashing Lights and Sound, had been archived by an awesome fan, but their first EP was seemingly lost to time.

I made lyric videos for each of the unreleased songs so I could convince people to listen to them (they're not the official lyrics, those don't exist anywhere, I spent sooooo long guessing and they're definitely still wrong lol)

Then, I bought the EP on CD so I could archive it. Little did I know that other fans had been searching for the EP versions of the songs for years because the title track of their album Brace Yourself had originally been named Save Yourself, and had a pretty different sound on the EP than it did for the official release. a lot of fans believe this is the better version of the song (I like both)

They have less than 3k listeners on spotify, which is criminal

The song Tell Me was featured in the live action Bratz movie, specifically for the scene where Chloe plays soccer

This album has some of the coolest CD art I've ever seen!

I just love how original and funky this concept is, and I definitely don't mind the title track being renamed Brace Yourself to go along with the crash test dummy iconography. and yes, the whole booklet has unique art on each page that matches the pregnant crash test dummy medical theme. this kind of effort is unheard of for musicians these days

So yeah, if you like 2000s rock music, you should try this band! I won't stop shouting it from the rooftops until more people know these songs
