Hello, one and all, I finally return to blogging! It took me a while, not only because I had to get everything set up for school(which, that in of itself deserves it's own blog >:/), but I didn't have any new tech finds to write home about.
Cue two weeks ago I find a free TV on marketplace, and now we're here.
The KP-46WT500 is a Rear Projection CRT, which while I'm not exactly sure what Rear Projection fully means(TV nerds are welcome to explain!), I do know what a CRT is.
Let's start with the pros: It's a HUGE display, 46 inches, and widescreen, though more on that later. It has 7 total inputs, minus the TV port, including 4 Composite, 2 Component, and one DVI, more than enough for me. It came with the original stand, which looks really nice paired with the beast.
Now, the cons. The picture is complete garbage. It's blurry, has really bad viewing angles, and the colors are separating. Even testing with NES games I found it very hard to visually comprehend what was happening, let alone my Xbox 360. The widescreen is also messing a couple things up there, as it stretches out the picture heaps. I'm certain there's a way to fix that, but I'm not TV savvy so I wouldn't know how(again, TV nerds are welcome to give advice!) I'm sure this is just a common thing with these, but it's extremely heavy, and we didn't get it aligned to the base, so that's just gonna bother me forever. I'm definitely not strong enough to lift it up to fix that lol.
Despite the TV being a total dud, it's MINE and that's what matters! I actually love this giant piece of garbage and intend to keep it FOREVER, given it's my first technically CRT.Â
Pictures!!
