I'm not ashamed to admit I love Death Note the musical, the music is genuinely so good. Not only does it have political insights, it has even more insights on human nature than the book and show does, and some of the metaphors in there are absolutely beautiful. I'm about to quote some of my favorite lyrics but be warned, if you haven't read the manga or watched the show there will be major spoilers.
[SPOILERS UPCOMING]
The song "The way it ends" takes place when L is dying and just read these lyrics I love this song so much:
"I'm like a software program caught inside an endless loop, just bad code that keeps repeating. Is this the way it ends now how could I not see this coming? My camera's cloudy lens now takes much darker pictures than before"
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HEAR "The way it ends" IT'S ON MY PROFILE BTW
The song "They're Only Human" is also one of my favorites (though I feel it's important to mention that Ryuk and Rem sing this):
"But even while blaming fate for the lives that they lead, they hope for the lives that they need. Living every day 'til the day they die, never getting answers yet still asking why. Going through the motions as if there will be a reward"
Another lyric I love from that song: "Only human after all, so they push and they shove with this thing they call love till they fall"
Lastly I'd like to show you some lyrics from another favorite of mine, "hurricane":
"The hardest rains, the coldest wins, are waiting for the hurricane. The human stains and all their sins blown away. The earth will shake, the sky will scream, once they feel the power of the hurricane."
