yuri vs yaoi

I don't exactly know how to put my thoughts into words, so i apologize in advance c:

On tiktok, instagram etc etc I've been seeing videos of creators basically making yaoi and yuri a competition. 
(Yaoi = BL | Yuri = GL for those who don't know)
Why are we putting down one to praise another? If you truly were an ally to the queer community I really don't think you'd be making stupid posts such as these. 

Even if the posts are engagement bait, the comments aren't any better (╥﹏╥)

And I knew we had officially lost the plot when i saw a yuri vs yaoi tally chart on the whiteboard at school. Are we effing serious?

I don't have a very clear opinion on this yet, because I think it's okay to have preferences. But on the other hand, if I really think about it, then would these people with preferences for yaoi watch the same show with the same story with yuri instead? And what if they wont?

One thing is crystal though, If you like yaoi but hate (emphasis on HATE) yuri or any other queer relationships, then it's a fetish. you just like seeing two men kiss. And vice versa.

im not saying having a fetish is necessarily a bad thing (it's subjective to opinion) , but at least know what it is. 

Again, I'm not really sure how to put down my thoughts, but i just wanted to talk about it here <3
