yes! the new album anticipation... what do you think? i like going shopping, I'm not one of those people that hates autotune. But from all we've heard, I'm not sure it'll match up to the level of quality the rest of their work has. I'm curious to see my, and the broader music sphere's opinion on it.
This is coming after one of their best albums, TNA, so expectations are high too. Anyway, I like nearly every strokes song so I'm bound to listen to it over and over
i was disappointed by going shopping on release but it's come to be one of my fav songs of theirs in recent years... i've gotten so much replay value out of it and it heightened my hype for reality awaits way more than Falling Out of Love which, while a fine song, isn't nearly as good as going shopping or anything on the new abnormal so that made me a little anxious
i'm definitely open to autotune but only when it jams well with the song around it, since going shopping has a sort of offbeat relaxed feel that doesn't take itself too seriously i loved it there but with how sincere i felt F.O.o.L was trying to be it made it a bit of a jarring listen...
still def copping the vinyl and listening to the new album ASAP :)
yes, going shoping is very fun! i think people will comea around to love it, like the songs on future present past. what are your thoughts on the voidz?
talking about voidz just makes me sad tbh because they were in such a prime in 2018-2019... virtue is confidently the best casablancas album other than is this it (and maybe the new abnormal) to me but to see the directions they went with megz of ram and like all before you (other than maybe flexorcist and spectral analysis which i think are great) is gen tragic... i loved tyranny as well, it just feels like their stuff got a lot less musically creative and way more frontloaded lyrically
i wasn't aware people weren't fond of fpp on release, personally threat of joy is my fav strokes song
i guess we'll just see where things go for the time being, who knows
i'm not sure what happened, i think julian just has an autotune addiction that's causing him to not use it in cool ways anymore like he used to! I think though, maybe there will be some more cool uses on the strokes record. I think the guys at the strokes have a little more creative input in recent times then the voidz, really.
a lot of people i know have come around on it, but when it first released a lot of reviews hated drag queen. i think it's a pretty interesting track, and the most experimental they've gotten. everyone loved oblvius, though. some people think drag queen is boring, but I think it's really fun.
we will see! we can start a cool thread once the next album comes out
yess that'd be so sick
i def agree with the fact that the strokes seem to have more creative input, it feels like lately the voidz are just being weird for the sake of being weird...
kinda unrelated but i genuinely love the first guitar solo in going shopping so damn much, what's ur take on it
yea i like it too, and that's definitely what still gives me HOPE for the future! the best one in strokes history, though, it's gotta be mideway through vision of division. that's probably my least favorite strokes album, but that song is BADASS
uhhh yeah i am. havent really tuned into the new songs yet bc ive heard from close the strokes oomfs that they suck lol
i think Going Shopping is def worth checking out, Falling Out Of Love not so much but i'm still waitinf on the full album
I'm not big big into them, but I've heard New Abnormal and Is This It fully, they're very very good albums. I liked what I heard, Someday was my favorite from This is it, and I crave more of them, I probably will listen to their full discography sometimes around this year.
The new album though... I can't really say that I am excited for it, the autotune seems really off at first I can't lie, and I never minded autotune on any songs — dunno if I would like it now after some months of it release, though I do think the Chorus on it was very catchy. That part definitely grew on me, and I dunno about the 2nd single.

you're with a person who literally haves the band name as thier user LMAO yeah i love them but i'm somehow new into them but not frankly a newbie i really enjoy the members projects too
