What do you guys usually use to make your hair bigger? I’ve tried literally everything and my hair stays flat 😭
don't have scene hair all the time but what I do is straighten the hell out of it, use volume powder, TEASE TEASE TEASE, hairspray, then you wait.. you tease the hell out of it again, more hairspray.. I've seen some scene kids spray the hair, brush it out and then tease it, Idk maybe that works better if your hair is very fair and you want more grip. I don't do this hairstyle often because it pisses me off and it barely stays the way I want it to, but I know this from batnests since I used to do this religiously and Imo it's super similar. Just keep in mind that TOO much hairspray weightens down the hair by a lot and it's not as delicious :/
If you want peacock hair however, that one is SO much easier B)
Ouh boy I’ve been waiting to ramble abt this again :^)
1. Depending on whether or not u want to tease area vs. height, use a different brush. If you just want to tease a big portion of hair but not as tall (ie ur trying to get the base of your hair done) use a larger paddle brush. If you are looking for height & specific small sections of hair to have more height and volume, rattail & teasing brushes are amazing. Back comb towards ur scalp (be careful not to hurt ur scalp while doing it lol) and lock the hair into place temporarily by pressing down with the brush by the root of ur hair.
2. Hairspray, hairspray, hairspray. Use the toughest kind you can. I personally use bedhead masterpiece and it works like a charm. Spray the base after u back comb rather than the outer part of strands first. Make sure to hold ur hair up while the hairspray dries, or it will fall to the side and not stay poofed. Then u can start combing out the sides.
3. If you got straight hair like me that isn’t fried but need a workable texture to start teasing, spray a thin layer of hairspray around ur head, wait a min, and then brush it out. Ur hair should be much thicker feeling & tease up easier.
4. If you use hair powder, it’s awesome for getting max volume. Just be sure to apply a layer of hairspray to keep it in place bc water will be the bane of ur existence
5. If your hair is lookin a bit too shiny, use dry shampoo. Also forgot to write it earlier, but if ur tryna do it on greasy hair, spray a little dry shampoo on the roots and it’s more manageable.
6. Volumising mousse is also really good, especially if you have curlier hair. It’s not as sticky as hairspray, but it’s only really suitable for scene hair if ur hair is freshly washed. (That being said, don’t try to tease ur hair automatically after being washed. Most of the time it’s not gonna stay or look as good, at least on my hair type)
you have to use a combination of texture powder + intense teasing + got2b hairspray.
in my experience it's best to do powder --> base layer of hairspray at the roots --> teasing with a small comb/teasing comb (more teeth = more teasing power) --> shaping --> more hairspray & repeat the last 2 as needed
you also have to make sure the hairspray dries in between layers or the liquid will weigh down your hair :P
the shape also holds better on damaged hair honestly so if your hair is too healthy you may need to tease more
