Deltarune Theories?

Back to Games

I'm not really a theorist, the only I truly believe is that REDACTED from Undertale is Dess. I can't make many smart connections other than the room name (i.e. room_water_redacted), but i would like to hear if anyone else has any theories/connections. If so, share them here!
If you don't have any theories but would like to share any you believe in, be my guest.

listen ralsei is 100% a piece of boss monster fur that clings to kris' shirt. it's a trace of a living organism which would answer why it feels like he's different from other darkners, it's like a flower situation. it's how he's able to follow kris and susie around, it's because he's just on kris' shirt but then he has to like twinkle manifest and then he has to catch up with them which is why he always shows up late. he doesn't turn to stone because as the "prince of darkners", he always matches the will of the fountain which is like the stated reason for why darkners turn to stone, not because they're just in a different dark world but because they don't match the will of the fountain. and that would also be why he's so close to kris and like knows so much about the light world. he could also be a piece of boss monster fur that was in the storage closet cuz like toriel is a teacher at the school, it could be her fur.

if this isn't convincing enough read the roaring knight fight flavor text for when ralsei is 'swoon' (why is it called that?)

"Ralsei became a pile of fluff. [If Ralsei was SWOONed]"

….I have a theory.

Seriously, though, there’s no evidence to suggest that this is the case

I believe that half of Chapter 7 (assuming there really is only one ending, if not then it would be the ending to the Weird Route) will be dedicated to playing as Sans, after when he arrives at the Underground with Papyrus

I feel like it would be very unsatisfying to just have it as the end credits seen, they have been building up Sans switch timelines throughout the chapters (ESPECIALLY the punch card), seeing how he and papyrus feel about being the last of their own timelines would be very, very interesting

@kaseyslider

but toby said that deltarune wasn't gonna be too connected to undertale

@goodbunny maybe not as a direct continuation set in the same universe as undertale, but there are connections to undertale

Most obviously with the returning characters, even if they are different from their Undertale counterparts. It is heavily implied that Sans is from Deltarune, especially after we learn that the punch card from Sans’ workshop comes from the festival.

Susie is revealed to bleed in chapter 4, confirming that monsters work differently from Undertale. Who is the only monster that bleeds in Undertale? Sans

Sans being a straight up ASSHOLE in Deltarune, but he seems less selfish and more wise in Undertale. This seems like there isnt anything speculate about at first, because the deltarune counterparts are different.

If we take into account all of this, it makes sense that he would have a shift in character, as Deltarune is the beginning of his character while Undertale (chronologically) a continuation of it after he enters Snowdin

It might not happen the way I said (half of chapter 7 playing as sans and paps arriving in snowdin) but my gut says that its 99.9% likely to happen

Sans from Deltarune isnt a new theory but i very much believe it. I do hope we at least have a segment playing as sans in snowdin at the end of chapter 7 (probably not gonna happen but it’d be cool)

There's a part of hometown we still have not seen yet that Kris refuses to acknowledge.

When you overlay every part of hometown, they connect perfectly EXCEPT the street leading to noelle's house and the street with Grillby'sans'. Those 2 streets have a very visible empty space between them. And if you go to the mayor's office, on the wall there's a map of the town and there's clearly an extra street there too.

Also this is some meta stuff up for speculation but I'm 2014 Toby tweeted about how he has been making a game for 2 years(specifically said not Undertale) and someone else seems to be making a similar game.

Knowing Omocat and Toby are friends and OMORI's development also started in the early 2010's, it could've been maybe about this specific plot point since an event like this is also very fundamental to OMORI's plot.

What's in that extra street? Hell if I know. Some people theorized that it could be where the big ass tree Ralsei is supposed to be is, since Ralsei is a plantner is also a popular theory rn. Or the house of the mystery man, or at least the man from Kris' therapy session
