UK Heatwave

Using my first blog post to complain about the climate XD

These heatwaves have been straight-up torture. This is the second week of another heatwave in the UK, and I don't know how tf I'm going to survive this summer with this extreme heat. If I have to endure another week of this without an air cooler or air conditioning, I might seriously be in deep trouble. It almost makes me feel ashamed that I react so viscerally to this weather, considering I'm black, whoever made up the lie that we can withstand extreme heat, come to the front IMMEDIATELY!! 

Not to mention how everything circling this issue makes it even more unbearable. For example, when we mention how hot it is in the UK, with temperatures at 30+ degrees, some will be like, "Oh, well, in Texas is hotter" or "Why don't you get an air conditioner?"

But that's the problem. THE AVERAGE PERSON DOESN'T HAVE ONE😭 not to mention how priceless those things are. The UK was never meant to produce heat like this, and was usually a pretty cold country. Because of that, almost all of our houses are designed to keep the house warm, and god forbid you live on top of a shop or have the highest floor on the apartment (which I'm in), otherwise you'll face the absolute worst of it. Every time I'm outside, I dread coming home to be met with the burning air that always tries to cook me like a damn turkey.

This really sucks because I do really enjoy summer, the sunny days, the late nights, being jacket-free is the best thing in the season, but this genuinely is making me convert into being a winter fan, because I would genuinely rather have it snow for one month straight than to spend another day sweating my soul off!! 

The heatwaves are so evil, and no one understands/they clown us for complaining about the weather until they come over here and see how HORRENDOUS it is

depends exactly where in texas tbh

eastern texas (close to the gulf coast) has high subtropical humidity, whereas the west is usually dry and arid

nevada/eastern california is arguably the most arid with little precipitation

i certainly wouldn't recommend a trek through death valley unprepared lol

but yeah, british summer is a different kind of hell altogether

our brick and mortar homes are designed to retain heat and make winter months more tolerable

and because they work well at retaining heat, it means summer living is completely unbearable at times

i've managed to survive so far with an air cooler, a few ice lollies and the occasional cold cider
