Can you guys actually hear the difference between file types?

Back to Music

Like,

mp3, FLAC, Lossless, M4A, ect.

Is there a big difference to any of u?

when listening to them side by side definitely. i’d go out of my way for a certain one yk

Personally, I cant really hear it too obviously, but I do notice if its like a 192kb/s vs 320kb/s, but im not picky about it, a lot of the times the bad quality adds to it

@Misery

true that! im never picky, and my ipod only has 8gigs so i try to save it with mp3s and not flacs.

the bad quality can really add to it, especially on CDs

you can hear them on physical players - streaming makes zero difference

@paranormalcomputer

I haven't had a streaming service since last year so I'm not sure how it compares anymore

@xb3llabl4sphemyx777 [glmrklldUS!] good for u omg!! yeah spotify added “lossless” aka flac but it makes zero difference cus phones aren’t made for music quality lol. i can 100% hear a difference on my ipod between flac and mp3

Wav/flac are somewhat close, mp3 definitely has a stark quality difference. I burn a lot of cds and when i test out music i can only find on mp3 vs wav on my player, it becomes kinda clear the lack of depth mp3 has. It’s good in a pinch but i try to go for FLAC when i can.

Yes. I like to make the most out of what I have.
