I love Yume Nikki! I've been meaning to get back into it again but I've played maybe 2-4 hours of it so far. I played a lot of alternatives too though like Frozen Soul (Dream Game) & Dream World
YUME NIKKI IS MY FAVORITE GAME EVERRRRRRRRR1!!!!!
Yume Nikki was my gateway into psychological horror, even as someone who is too scared isn't too into horror in general. I think it also made me discover how much I enjoy watching and reading about theories in games about things the game doesn't bluntly tell you. I also played .flow so much as a teen too and was very absorbed in it.

i loved that game. also there is a website where you can play it with other fan projects online. website: yume nikki project
Yume Nikki is...interestingly one of the very few horror and RPGMaker games I can stand, I ended up growing out of RPGM stuff as I got older, and I really don't like horror anymore lol
That aside, Yume Nikki is one of those games I wish I could wipe my memory of and play through blind again, my first experience playing through it while knowing very little about it was something I can't quite put into words, it struck a chord with me, though.
There're a lot of specific memories I have with the game, like it shadowdropping on Steam and nobody knowing what was going on, or playing it at a friend's house and really spooking him with the Forest World, or getting the Flute and sitting in the room and almost crying for some reason.
I think my favorite worlds are the mall(?) area, that one settlement place that also has the Toriningen Party, and all the Famicom Worlds.
