I am hoping Def3ct or someone tech savy can explain an account activity issue that has now happened three times.
On Tuesday night, I manually logged out of FriendRewind and cleared the site’s cookies on my personal laptop. I then went to sleep and did not use that laptop again the following day because I was at work with a different computer.
While waiting for a meeting, I opened my public profile using a browser on my phone. I have never logged into FriendRewind or entered my username or password on that phone. Despite this, my profile showed that I was idle and had last been active seven minutes earlier. In reality, I had not accessed my account since the previous night. This has happened two other times under similar circumstances.
I was not using a VPN. The devices were also connected through different internet service providers, so they were not sharing the same home network or public IP address.
I have tried to identify alternative explanations, but none appear to account for what I am seeing. Because users cannot view active sessions, login devices, IP history, or what specifically updates the “last active” status, I have no way to independently determine what is happening.
Could def3ct please clarify:
- What actions or backend processes update a user’s “idle” or “last active” time?
- Can administrative activity, account maintenance, moderation tools, or other privileged access cause that timestamp to change?
- Are there server logs showing the time, IP address, device, or type of request responsible for these updates?
I am not accusing anyone of entering my account. I am concerned because the displayed activity does not match my actual use, the pattern has repeated, and the usual device and network explanations do not seem to fit. I would appreciate a clear technical explanation and, if possible, confirmation from the relevant logs. I want to make sure there are no security flaws or account-access issues causing this activity to appear
Thank you!
